On the road at 5:30 a.m. to head to some trout waters. St. Patrick's Day... A day that we are all Irish! Haha
Now, come on!!! 30% of snow means that the weather has a chance to mess with your day. But, on the bright side, it's warmer when its snowing. Right?
Ok! Let's do this!
I'm happier now...
My buddy's turn for a nice catch.
And a little chromer wannabe for the Damsel!
So glad that I stayed up late to tie some flies...
A cold, windchill of a day. But, it was a good day catching. Maybe it had something to do with having the luck of the Irish... I did wear my four leaf clover hat...

A few fun facts about St. Paddy's Day.
It's my oldest daughter's birthday! She just wanted a birthday cake each year with a leprechaun and a pot of gold on it!
The shamrock was originally a three leaf clover and according to legend, was used by St. Patrick to explain the Trinity.
In 1962, city officials of Chicago decided to dye a portion of the Chicago river green as a yearly tradition. They did it again this year. 40 lbs of green dye in a quarter mile stretch of the river. (We have a Green River in Utah that we don't need to dye... )
Corned beef and cabbage is an Irish American dish.
Irish Americans who immigrated from Ireland were very poor and this was a meal that was the most affordable at the time. It has become a staple for the holiday ever since. (If they could only see the price per lb. now!!)

So, St. Patrick's day has come and gone. But, not without a crock pot meal of corned beef and cabbage. Darn, it was so good that there are not any leftovers to make corned beef hash. I guess it's the protein shake again for breakfast. = ) That is a serving plate to feed 4 by the way. Hahahaha
Enjoy your week.
Don't know if you've come across the Instant Pot yet, but Corned Beef in less than an hour and done to perfection, plus set the numbers and it does everything by itself from pressure up to pressure down. Check it out. Watched the SF/Athletics game and they had great green hats with the usual SF on it. Might have to get me one.
ReplyDeleteAngel and A's fan in the 70's and 80's. Joe Rudi and Reggie were on both teams! Yes, Insta Pot is a great invention, but I needed 10 hrs to get home... Haha
DeleteI remember those guys...great baseball.

Yes.... The sow bug is usually my top fly and I change out the end fly with something smaller like a midge or an RS2. The black wooley bugger did quite well too!
DeleteEmily now is the time for all good weathermen to come to the aid of us...SPRING, no more snow or cold, but sunny skies and glorious green.
ReplyDeleteLove your festive dinner.
Here, here!!! =)
DeleteWay better than my luck recently. Nice post.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kevin! We need to fish someday. =)
DeleteNice going with the fishing and a nice corned beef dinner as well. You are special. It's going to be in the 70s here this weekend. You can still make it out in time!
ReplyDeleteAhhh Howard... I would so love to go that direction this weekend. Montana is next week. And this girl cannot miss that, Those amigos would not be happy... I still haven't heard the end of last years cancellation. Haha.
DeleteSome lovely fish there! Very well done, especially in such cold conditions. The embroidery on your hat looks superb BTW.
ReplyDeleteRR
Thx, Rod! It is actually a hat from work that they gave us with our company logo on the side... It also makes a lucky fishing hat!
